VILLAGE COURT
The Lake Placid Village Court hears both civil and criminal matters.
For criminal issues, the Lake Placid Village Court handles matters involving the prosecution of misdemeanors and violations (including all traffic), that are committed within the village's boundaries. The Village court also conducts arraignments and preliminary hearings in felony cases. Felony cases are handled by the Essex County Supreme Court in Elizabethtown.
The Village Justice's are required to be on-call and are often requested for arraignments in misdemeanor and felony charges as well as acting as a Family Court judge when family court is not in session.
