The Lake Placid Police Department receives a large volume of patch requests from all over the world. Unfortunately, we are unable to honor patch requests due to security reasons and cost. The patches are purchased with Village funds and are an official part of the Lake Placid Police uniform. The patch is considered equipment provided to employees of the Lake Placid Police Department and are not authorized to be worn by anyone other than a member of the Lake Placid Police Department.
About
Our Patch
Our official patch, as shown below, is light blue with gold
embroidered lettering and is in the shape of a shield. Our Village seal
is embedded in the center of the patch with "Lake Placid Police," along
the top and "N.Y." under the seal. The current patch has been worn since
the early 1970's. Prior to the current patch, the patch only differed in
shape. The contents have always been the same since it's original
creation in the 1960's, only changing from a circle to a shield style.
The most unique part of the patch is the rare incorporation of the
Olympic rings within the seal.
